What is the physiological foundation of a conventional blood count?

Ok...so I know the normal values and criteria that are shown in a blood count. What I cannot comprehend is the "physiological basis" bit. When I asked the lecturer she said that mentioning when such values increase and trim down is irrelevant detail that can loose me marks in an exam. So what exactly to I have to have a word about apart from stating the values etc etc

Not human being privy to your converstation, we can only guess, but I suspect the point she was trying to make is that middle-of-the-road values are descriptive, not prescriptive, so the concept of "physiologic basis" points you in a wrong direction.
