Why can't we surgically remove the parts of the brain responsible for gloomy emotion?

Emotions like fear, depression, and anxiety.
If we know exactly where the parts of the brain responsible for these distrustful emotions are located, why can't they be surgically removed like tumors and cysts?
I mean what adjectives purpose does depression have other that driving people to suicide?
What good is anxiety when it cause nervous breakdowns and degrading the quality of day to morning living?
If a person had an incurable fatal disease afterwards the horror and terror of dying alongside him every single minute of the rest of his life isn't really useful is it?

These emotion were created for the caveman's basic survival in the unsafe wild, not for man's survival in today's civilization, so why doesn't anybody remove these parts of the brain?
Answers:
Technically speaking one could enjoy these parts of the brain removed...

However it changes your personality indefinitely.

For example my dad had epilepsy and he have the effected part of his brain removed but it caused him to own perminant patience he could litorally wait for anything for any amount of time without mortal stressed etc.

But typically if a part of the brain is removed it is usually linked to another function.

So the depression part of the brain is also responsible for making you bright and breezy. Thereof without it you would experience no emotion and you would therefore be rendered useless.

Now let say this was not the case, lacking that part of the brain your body might not be capable of dodging events related to fear. Like falling stale a ledge, you might not brace yourself for impact out of fear anymore..

So if they did remove that function, wouldn't you technically not be human anymore??
There is a simple answer to your put somebody through the mill. There are no discrete areas of the brain responsible for particular emotions. Emotions (and thoughts) are complex, made up of many interconnected circuits. Although within are certain areas that are highly related to emotion (e.g. the amygdala and fear), in attendance is no clean way to isolate one emotion.
You cannot go adjectives into a healthy brain in order to remove emotion, you can remove tumors and cysts as they are not being used by the brain in order to convey out functions, healthy brain tissue is being used for something important.

Depression can be manage by drugs, as can anxiety, but removal of that part of the brain will probably be very detrimental to the psychotic stability of that subject, not to mention the potentially fatal brain impairment, people don't have the horror and terror of dying every sunshine, they eventually learn to deal with it.

Plus if contained by today's civilization there is no need for negative emotion, then there would be no sense of right or wrong, there would be no distress to respect the law, no fear in hurting one's self.
Think in the order of it, if you told a loved one that you were dying and they didn't react at all, because they didn't know how to, how would that build you feel?

Besides i reckon the brain would compensate, if you had no negative emotion and just felt happy ones, you'd eventually differentiate between have positive emotions and no emotions, and you'd probably register no emotions as desperate emotions.

These are just some of my opinions
