Can i clutch expired bactrim ds?
I started taking Bactrim ds for a week now and it has done wonders for my acne. Just today I discover that it was going on for 3 months after expiration. I'm not worried about potency but I am worried about safety. Is it safe and sound to take these drugs after their expiration??

I wouldn't if I were you. I work at a pharmaceutical company as an analytical chemist. One of the tests I do is on the stability of medication over time. Up to a point in time the active ingredients are ok but after that time they start to break down into impurities that can be toxic. How hurriedly they break down depends on the active ingredient. Some actives are more stable than others and I'm not sure about Bactrim. A study was done to establish the expiration date and to be on the protected side I wouldn't go past it.
