Can I excercise while taking the drug Atenolol?
I was recently diagnosed with Hypertension
Answers:
you can, but you may not know how to tolerate much as you will block the mechanisms that cause the heart to pump harder and faster in response to exercise demands. It is also dependent on the dose and your response to it.
Exercise is something you really should do anyway, especially beside hypertension, just check with your doctor if you have any concerns over your sanctuary with exercise. Source(s): med student
Since Atenolol is another Beta blocker drug, it is used to help slow the heart & reduce workload. Some of the side effects are fatigue, poor standard, hypotension, dizziness, etc...so you may not have a lot of energy while trying to exercise. But it is noteworthy to exercise since it (combined with the drug) helps to reduce hypertention.
But you should still unambiguously check with your primary physician since I'm NOT a doctor.
