Methylphenidate is NOT a narcotic.
Methylphenidate is in the same pharmacological class as amphetamine and is a stimulant. Narcotics typically have a side effect of making you drowsy. Stimulants approaching methylphenidate have the opposite effect and are used for treating narcolepsy to keep ethnic group awake as well as for treating ADHD.
