If de oxygenated blood isn't blue, why do vein look blue?

Whenhen is right. The short answer is because of the way light is absorbed and reflect by your skin. If you had completely transparent skin, and could see everything going on underneath it, the blood in your veins (de-oxygenated, since it is surrounded by the veins) would still look red.

Because it hasn't been exposed to the upper air. Once it is exposed to the air like when you get a cut consequently it turns red. It is oxygenated but inside but it is much more oxygenated when it makes contact with the air.In other words blood is much more oxygenated when it make contact with the air then when it become oxygenated by your lungs.

The people who answered after me are wrong. De oxygenated blood is a deeper red color, blood can never be blue
blood can't be blue...vein look blue because of the tissue that makes up the vein
