You start CPR while someone go to get the AED. If you are the first one to come to the scene, call 911, give 2 rescue breaths (in baggage it's a blockage or something you can easily deal with), then apply the AED. The 30 seconds-1 minute of the AED (assuming you're trained) is worth more than the 30 seconds-1 minute of CPR, because you'll verbs CPR if you have to after the AED does its thing. You should follow the ABC's of first aid.
A-Airway (defib does not oblige if the person is down because they are choking, make sure airway is open and clear)
B-Breathing (make sure the entity is not breathing, give rescue breaths)
C- Circulation/dangerous bleeding (need to move the oxygen to the brain and control any life threatening bleeding)
D- Defib (if able to)

Remember an AED does not other allow a person to recieve a cardiac shock. The patient needs to own a specific type of electrical cardio rhythm in order for the AED to allow a shock. Hope this helps Source(s): paramedic & nursing student
AED!
I would start with the CPR consequently go to the AED.

Please make sure you are properly trained on both before you start.

Also, form sure someone is calling 911.

If you're not trained get a course online.

There quick and not too expensive.

I've used www.NationalCPRCerification.com and they were righteous.

There are others that I'm sure are good as well, just look them up.
