you could also consider that some cardiac and respiratory conditions make it difficult to breathe when in a supine position. decrease oxygenation to an already confused/agitated patient will really add something special to the mix. Source(s): retired icu nurse
PT may be disoriented and fall rotten table, PT may not be able to remain still for the test, PT may have to be restrained (which requires an MD order), May enjoy difficulty administering contrast if PT is aggitated, PT may become combative and on and on it goes!!
