Why did my laxative come to nothing...I'm concerned?
I took a laxative lastnight around the hours of 11 and 12, and it is now 11:16 am. Why haven't I been able to progress to the bathroom yet?
Answers:
It may depend upon the type of laxative you took. If you took something that stated 'take with 8 oz of water', and you only took it beside a small amount of water, that could affect the 'outcome'. [so-to-speak]
At this point, I would suggest drinking a cup of hot coffee or hot prune juice followed in a few minutes by a substantial glass of water.
I would be reluctant to advise you to pilfer another dose of laxative so as not to give yourself a nasty case of 'the runs' -very self-conscious.
Another alternative might be to use a glycerine suppository or Dulcolax suppository to get things moving again. Source(s): RN/FL
Did you take the laxative because you were already constipated? I don't know much going on for laxatives but I know a bit about constipation. If you don't poop 2-3 times a day then you are constipated. Water is directly relateover the moonour digestive system, the longer a poop sits in your intestines, the more water is sucked out of it, making it harder to pass. Fiber is really the wheel that move your poop along. You can't digest it, so it clean sweeps your intestines, an fruits an veggies are always filled beside water. A lot of people worry that if they chomp through yogurt, or prunes they will get diarrhea. But most people are constipated, so even that might not be enough to receive things movin'. Drastic changes in diet, whether they are good change or not, usually results in diarrhea, since the body is a little shocked by getting something it's not used to.
If I be you, I would try to eat just fruits, vegetables, an water today. Maybe rather yogurt. Try slicing some apples an dipping them in yogurt. Or frying some pineapple, or steaming some veggies an eating them with brackish an butter. It's not hard to make it tasty, an it will cleanse your system.
I don't really trust prescription, all that much, I don't like the idea of what it could be doing to my body. Also newly because the FDA approves something, doesn't mean that it's healthy or even works. All a drug company has to do is submit a 6 week covering study showing that no one got hurt, an that the people enhanced. But they can conduct as many faulty studies as they want before they hit a "good" one. An they procure to choose the participants, often which don't include people who it get proscribed to, including children, pregnant women and people taking other medications. An they don't have to prove that their drug is better than, simple diet an exercise adapt. In fact, testing drugs only Really happen when the general public takes them. As the long term side effects entail more than 6 weeks to emerge, so the public is the guinea pig for most drugs. An if people start dying, the FDA starts recalling. Yeah, I don't trust medicine. It's a deception/money run business.
