I am tritanopic and cannot differentiate between green and blue, purple and dark blue, gloom blue/green and black, and see orange/pink instead of red. I can't tell the difference between pink and orange. I inherited this from my grandfather. It is a chromosome 7 disorder.
There are varying degree of colourblindness, from anomalies to full colour-blindness (monochromacy). Tritanopia/Tritanomaly is extremely rare, but is equally prevalent in males and females. It's prevalence is about 1 contained by every 10,000 males/females in the World. There is no test for this type, since it is so uncommon. Tritanopia can be adjectives (rare) or brought on by an injury. If you have passed a colourblindess test before, after you probably have tritanopia/tritanomaly (since they don't test for this and I can pass a green/red test). If not, consequently attempting to read some sample test plates online may help determine the type. I could read the red question paper (protanopia test), green test (deuteranopia) but not the blue/violet plate (tritanopia).
Tritanopia is a yellow-blue colour-vision defect, but most sufferers cannot see the difference between green and blue (can also be found in deuteranomaly, however). I absence pink/purple vision balance, so I often use a pink/purple overlay when reading from white quality newspaper. I am also photophobic and cannot see fluorescent orange/pink (flickers in front of my eyes).
From the information you have given me, I may conclude that you probably do own a form of colour vision defect. I would try to test yourself for red/green blindness first and if you can outdo the test, look at a blue/violet blind test plate. There is also a plate out there which is the reverse theory test. It is a plate with a word on it made up of colours only colour-blind people can see. If you can read the word, you hold some form of colour-blindness (the way I found out I had a form of colourblindness even though I passed the red/green test and here was no test for me to take for tritanopia).
I preference you the best of luck. Source(s): My own tritanopia and, in the past, wikipedia helped me research.
