Can an MRI be done when you own a heart filter deep-seated?

I had The Tummy Tuck Surgery back in Dec. and earlier they did this surgery they placed a heart filter in and now I'm wondering if I can have an MRI done or not?
Answers:
It depends on whether you're referring to an inferior vena caval filter by "heart filter." That's when a filter of is place contained by your inferior vena cava but not near your heart, rather by the level of your renal arteries. If it be, indeed, a vena caval filter, then most facilities are fine with doing MRIs near this device after it's been there for a given period of time. If you're referring to something else, I really don't know what you be set to by this term, "heart filter." If it sounds like an IVC filter like I described which is designed to capture clots and prevent them from entering your lungs, then as I said, once it's mature, most facilities are okay beside having them for MRIs. In any event, your best bet is to call the facility and speak to them to see whether they allow for the procedure to be done for patients like you.
