45 mg of a benzodiazepine- okay dosage to transport or too much?
I take a benzodiazepine for sleeping.
I'm supposed to tak 30 mg, but it never makes me fall asleep.
I integer I could increase it another 15 mg to make sure I go to sleep.
I literally haven't slept in 2 days and have 3 15-minute naps.
Is 45 mg an okay dosage to take without desperate affects or even more or no?
Yes, I realize I should talk to a doctor about it, but I need sleep and prominently I can't call them now and crap.
Thanks

No, it's not. First, you are not taking a sleeping pill. Benzodiazepines are to treat anxiety, primarily and you should speak with you physician in the order of a more effective and appropriate medication, such as Ambien. Second, you are SIGNIFICANTLY increasing the dose by going from 30 to 45 m. Third, you are now getting into high drug doses that can be problematic (i.e., overdose). Fourth, if you are have trouble sleeping tonight, I suggest taking a warm shower for 15 minutes (I'd suggest a bath but with 45 mg of BZ you could finish off up slipping or drowning!). The heat will relax your muscles, open your lungs and relax you. Then, have something reheat to drink and read a book in bed. That will help until you call your physician TOMORROW. Be smart something like this and don't self medicate. Source(s): I am a forensic psychopharmacologist, author of several books and taught neuropharm for 20 years.
45 mg is the maximum dose of temazepam and a huge overdose on some benzo's. You can't really ask about the dose of a benzo minus specifying which you're taking.
No, they aren't going to make you go to sleep. That isn't what they're for. They're used to keep you asleep through the hours of darkness, not to induce sleep. Trying to make it do something it doesn't do is a good recipe for the problems that attend the use of benzo's.
Please stay away from benzodiazipines. They may feel close to they're your best friend now, but when you come off of them it feels close to hell. You can even die from benzodiazipine withdrawal. I almost did.
You have to be more specific for there are more than one benzodiazepines near too many dosages ( Xanax comes in 0.25 mg so that CAN'T be what you're talking in the region of if you say you're taking 30 mg.). If you're not sleeping, even taking extra pills ( or half of a pill extra) may not be the right drug for you. I think you know what the answer is, and if you want to pocket the chance with more, go ahead, but I reflect on you really need a different drug since it is obviously not the right one for you. first you need to describe us exactly what kind of benzo it is, there are like 20 of them.
a 50% increase isn't adjectives that much. whats that? an extra pill? meh nothing to be concerned about. you'll just run out of your prescription faster.
if they aren't helping, ask your doctor for actual sleeping pills. although I find they are more addictive than benzo's. I would lift my zopiclone before I took my clonazepam anyday!
Both kinds work on GABA in the brain, and deduction from them is not fun. If you are new to this stuff, really consider other methods. They might make ya feel angelic and cool as a cucumber at first, but the longer your on it, the worse the dependance gets, than you find yourself wondering how ya got so far in!! or possibly thats just me!!
i wouldn't be to concerned. it depresses your CNS central nervous system, so it's not the best piece to fiddle with.
just don't turn take 5 extra pills, that won't do ya any good.
most doctors prescribe such a weak dose of benzo surrounded by the first place. only if you were visibily shaking and freaking out would they do prescribe maximum doses.
they prescribed me .5 mg twice a day of clonazepam. My doc say he sometimes gives out 2mg twice a day for a guy my size.
