Is it true that nurses are required to work 12 to 14 hours a hours of daylight?
At 40 years old I'm finally finding an opportunity to go back to conservatory. I've always wanted to work in the strength industry because I want to help people. I've especially wanted to be a nurse. The counselor at the university asked me if I was able to devote all my time working the grueling hours required of individual a nurse. I am now second guessing myself. Any suggestions? Maybe there's something better suited for me at my age that allows me to help people and still put together a descent living?

There are only a couple inhabitants in my family that are not in drug and both of the nurses in my family may have worked 12 hour shifts at times it is particularly not required.
If you are wanting something easy you can be a floor nurse just go go and get your LPN. work for a doctors clinic or something.
If you work for a hospital and there is a disaster or an outbreak you may be required to work over time due to a high volume of patients.
but it is just dependent of the charge and the facility?

It is not uncommon for nurses, especially in hospitals, to work 3 12 hour days a week, and then form it up with a 4th 12 hour day ever 3rd week. They are long days, but you get 4 days bad most weeks, sometimes you get 8 days in a row off in need taking vacation! Also, that is one of the ways they get remunerated so much, since many unions have it worked out that after the first 8 hours you grasp time and a half, and if you work more than 12 hours, you get double time.
As other people pointed out, the pen of nursing is not just limited to hospitals, and many doctors office, surgeon's offices, schools, businesses, etc only hold 8 hour days, and so would you, if you work for them. What your counselor really needs to ask you is what KIND of nurse you want to be, and factor that into your decision.

Well nursing is such a vast grazing land.....my sister is a nurse in a hospital and she works the 12 hour shifts but she only works either 3 ir 4 days a week, so it works out because you own 3 days off to spend with your family. There are other instrument to be a nirse as well you can go to a school and be a university nurse and work the regular daylight and be off summers. You could work in a nirsing home and work 8 hour shifts, The nurses at my facility, I work in a drug rehab as a counselor, one and only work for 8 hours as well. They are 9-5 nurses and then they go home. So at hand are so many different hings you can do with a nursing degree thats why its so great. My sister be recently pregnant and while she was at the end of her pregnancy she go down to 6 hour shifts, and now that she has he baby she works the over night she works from 7pm -7am that way she is working while her son is sleeping and by the time hes up in the morning shes home for his morning feeding and afterwards her husband can be at work for 9 am. So honestly its a hige field and so many places need nurses. Its not merely a hospital job anymore. There are psychiatric facilities, schools, dental office, rehabs, nursing homes, and many many more. Even businesses like factory and stuff have their own nurses in case someone get hurt.
