Answers:
Well when you drink coffee the caffeine works its way through your body to the brain and it binds to certain receptors in the brain. Usually seratonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. When it binds to these receptors it sends sour signals that stimulate the brain and thus the brain sends signals throughut your body that stimulate you in order to keep you alert and awake. Like any drug you can become tolerant on the caffeine, and it will pinch more and more to give you that same level of alertness. Like the first time I drank a red bull I was massively alert and running around work like crazy, at this point it would probably take me 3 or 4 to feel that effect because I drink caffeine adjectives day at work, whether its coffee, soda, energy drinks, chocolate there is caffeine surrounded by all of it.
The caffeine in coffee binds to the neuron receptors that are usually bind with the chemical that cause sleepiness. Since caffeine and that chemical have similar molecular structures, caffeine is able to bind to the receptor. This causes a series of rxns and stimulates the agitated system. Source(s): Me
