Stopping efexor XR undamagingly?
I'm on holiday, and my meds disappeared out of my bag after traveling from South Africa to Thailand. Who would steal antidepressants?? lol
Anyway, so would it be really unsafe to go without my meds for 2 weeks or do i involve to make a plan?
I've been on efexor for 2 years - haven't been depressed for 6 months presently, but is still took them anyway.
Will i experience withdraws if i stop cold turkey?

Probably the low self esteem bandit. He felt similar to robbing some people today, but not too many lol. Anyway, It really depends to be honest. Each person react differently to medications. This question caught my eye because I was contained by a fairly similar situation, except I forgot to take mine when I went on time off haha. I worried a bit, but it turned out I felt pretty fine. My anxiety slowly came back, but once i started up again it go away within a day. I also have simply recently started taking paxil too. Since you have been on effexor for fairly some time you may experience some very light withdraw symptoms, and merely for 2 to 3 days at most. That is if you are not on a very high strength also. Now the goal of anti-depressants is to create you not get that sense of fear, urgency, or depression, when performing a task. Once the drug comes contained by full effect, usually a few weeks after first starting it, you suddenly you realize that you dont feel as depressed or anxious anymore. you find yourself doing things you were once afraid of, such as talking to someone or trying a different routine. Then you realize that these things werent as doomed to failure as you thought. You have now developed a new grasp, so even when you are off of the medication you still remember it wasn't as bad as before, consequently you still wont get depressed or anxious from it. Doctors do reccomend slowly coming off of these medications. They usually taper the dose down. A sudden stop might not be discouraging though, it really depends on you. There are 2 possibilities. The first is that once you stop, the chemicals that the effexor helped your brain produce will continue producing at a normal even, so you pretty much wont need it anymore. Even if this doesnt happen you still will also how things weren't as bad as you thought, so most feasible you won't notice much. Don't worry if you get a sudden fancy of urgency or fear at things, because thats just a sign that the medicine is no longer within effect. The fear is the same as it was when you first started. The merely difference this time is you have learned through experience that what you once feared is not as doomed to failure, so the feeling will go away rather in a flash. After about a day or so you should be fine. Other small withdraw symptoms that move about away in a day or so are insomnia, and feeling sick. Usually repeal symptoms light or not even felt at all. effexor is infamous for bad withdrawal. mostly gastric complaints, fuzzy brain, and temperature disturbance.
immediately *might* be a good time to see if you can get off, if you perceive ready. also- not everyone has the withdrawal symptoms. if you don't gain it, consider yourself lucky!!
anyhow- it could be uncomfortable, but not dangerous or life-threatening Source(s): RN, took this med off/on for 10 years.
