Are you handicapped by class contained by England?
If you are not patrician or public school can you achieve highest level of distinguishment in this country? People mention Gerry McCann and Kate McCann, but then they are not at Oxbridge. Do you see many consultants wandering out the dreaming spires near estuary or Glasgow accents?

All medical schools teach like peas in a pod curricula, whether you go to Cambridge, or Bristol you will be learning the same point, the only thing that changes is the prestige.
To answer your interrogate of course you can move "up the ranks" of the social class. For example I was not born into "money", I was born to a lower/lower-middle class kith and kin, I worked hard to become a doctor and as a consultant I will be earning lb250,000 before bonuses such as overtime which I can clock up to lb40,000 contained by. This puts me in the league of upper-middle class (the noveau riche).
Secondly, I am hesitant to whether Kate McCann ever was a doctor, look on the GMCs website, below "Medical Register", all licensed doctors, whether they are currently practicing or not in the UK have to be registered here, Gerry McCann is, however where's Kate?
Finally, I believe I own answered the question "If you are not patrician or public school can you achieve chief levels of distinguishment in this country?" by giving an example of my own rise from state scholard pupil to a higher class applicant of society.
Nobody is handicapped by class, colour or creed in England or in the UK.
People are solely handicapped by their personality, their ability and their will, courage, determination, etc., to succeed.
If you try hard plenty and you are able, you can be anything that you want to be.
Maybe it is a bit easier if the 'wheels are greased' for you, but it does not mean you have the cleverness, nor does it mean that you will become a high achiever.
Work hard and play easier said than done and success can be yours.
I am more than happy to have public institution and Oxbridge attendees to treat me for my various illnesses. I know they have had an excellent lessons.
It helps if you speak intelligibly and with reasonably accurate language rules but an accent isn't a problem. Class is only a problem if you can't get rid of the chip on your shoulder and you hold thrusting your deprived background down everybody's throat.
Oxbridge colleges are far more interested in your IQ and personality than your class (I go there from a working class background many moons ago). Yes, some of the students hold no idea how the vast majority live but they can be quite nice general public when you realise that it isn't really their fault, just the way they be brought up.
Yes I met other people like me at Oxbridge but you will find other good medical school (including Glasgow!) as well.
Dr Turner-Johnson is right about Kate McCann not being down in the GMC register. This is because she is listed as Dr Kate Healy. Maybe she isn't legally married to Gerry and uses the term McCann in public to appear "more middle class"?
