Solid Medication Capsules?

So I need to take capsules to prevent breakouts on my stern. These capsules are fairly large but they are a solid tablet, not the powdered ones. Instead of taking the capsule in one big gulp of water can I cut it surrounded by half and take it in 2 parts. Take respectively smaller piece one at a time?

EDIT: Solodyn (minocycline) is an extended release formulation. It should be swallowed whole, not chewed, crushed or broken. Source(s): Pharmacist
You might want to check with your dr. some meds should be taken whole ...I don't know why.
