Indeed a pious question.

The human body could still actually function normally lacking the gallbladder. Bile is stored in your gallbladder, which the liver creates the bile. As long as you have the liver still functioning, you are perfectly fine. ^-^
NOW, it's pretty common and can be done laproscopically. I have my gall bladder out years ago and it was major surgery. My mom have hers done a week later and she was up and around with the clean procedure (my luck to get an old fashioned surgeon!).
The big thing is that you may not be capable of pick your son up or drive or vacuum right after (has to do with the stomach muscles), but let your doctor(s) know what you need to do and guide your retrieval.

The procedures they used THESE days make recovery and all those things you like/need to do easier.
Gallbladder removal is nothing to be fretful about. Short procedure with very little recouping time. You'll be on bed rest for a couple of days but that's about it. In my opinion, your new diet will be the hardest subdivision :P But in all seriousness, it's a fairly minor surgery, and is contained by fact quite commonly preformed.
