-Reduce GI distress
by giving drug with
food or milk.( how can it reduce GI distress)
Answers:
crushing, breaking or chewing a tablet will affect how fast or very well it works
1) if its a capsule, crushing or breaking it will release the contents of the pill.
2) crushing or breaking a tablet increases the surface area of it, meaning it will be gripped faster than normal and its effect may be dangerous and/or ineffective.
3) many medication are made so they only react when they come into contact with the contents of your stomach, such as the sharp, so as to optimise its effects.
so dont break, crush or chew your tablets!

reducing GI stress is another thing. some medications can cause side effects when within contact with your GI mucosa for too long, so taking with food essentially 'dilutes' it, as well as making sure its absorbtion is slower as it have to compete with the food absorption. milk is known to lend a hand with GI upset or indigestion, and can help reduce any acute localised side effects of a drug.
