Working hours and holidays for a doctor?
hey i made a post about being a doctor but now i want to know what sympathetic of hours you are expected to work and what holidays you get off thanks (:

As an F1/F2 doc, you tend to draw from 4 (? can't remember) weeks off a year. As somebody in the first year of speciality training I should get around impossible to tell apart.
I'm on call every other night. Most people are on every few night but since I'm a double-specialist then I have to work harder than everyone else.
If you decide to run into paediatrics, this is the only speciality that you will be on-call until you retire because a consultant needs to be there at adjectives times.

I am not a doctor or any type of professional. Just working my way through nursing school but i seen not a soul had answered your question yet, so i thought i would make a contribution you my input. All the doctors i have worked with were other working. Depending on where you will be employed, more than likely you will always be on phone. Also you will be fighting with the other doctors to get holidays sour. Generally Doctors are only in when something is needed(which is always). Don't take my word for it, that's in recent times how it seemed to work out, when i was working with doctors. Also, doctors work alot of long hours, so if you are worried in the region of hours and holidays you may want to reconsider your career. GOOD LUCK, hope i helped!
