Taking niacin on a day after day?
i have poor circulation, gnc suggested i take niacin. i have niacin 250...should this be something i should pilfer daily or just on occasions that hand and feet are cold.
Answers:
Firstly, GNC sells dietary supplements, not medications. Secondly, niacin does not add to poor circulation. It causes a flushing effect by causing a histamine release at the capillary level. The histamine dilates the capillary but only for a short term. That's what causes the skin to look beet red and own an itchy/tingly feeling.
Niacin is useful in lowering cholesterol and triglycerides, however. Source(s): Pharmacist
Be wise taking Niacin. Under some conditions in some people it can cause liver spoil. Consult with your doctor first.
