Does river moderate the effects of tablets?

People usually take a sip of water after drinking medicine cus it's to clear the sweetness of the teeth to avoid toothache rite? I'm a short time ago concerned about the part when the medicine is travelling down the throat, the solution is thicker and travels slower, hose down travels faster down and would easily catch up with the tablets and dilute it, but then medicine is alkaline, and water is indeterminate, you would need acid to decreace the ph level of alkaline, so how would *nuetral* river affect it?
Answers:
water is necessary for a few reasons, and it will not dilute medication. Water help the medicine get into the digestive tract where the pills is absorbed. If you don't get the medicine into the stomach, some medicine can actually injure the throat above the stomach. Water helps medicine to dissolve - it have to dissolve to be absorbed in the stomach and the small intestines. PH isn't really an issue with most medicine.
Here's a few tidbits:
-tylenol(acetaminophen) is broken down quicker if you drink something acidy - OJ - for example, and it will give you relief sooner.
-motrin(ibuprofen) should not be taken with something acerbic - they recommend milk or food - to avoid stomach upset
-robitussin(guiafenessin) should be taken with a full 8 ounces of water in lay down for it to work properly. Before or after you take it doesn't really matter all that much -some race like the feeling of the cough medicine coating their throat, so are reluctant to drink after taking it. Robitussin works by pulling fluid from your system and putting it within the respiratory tract - thus coating irritated areas and thinning out secretions so you can cough them out! Good luck!
