Why does marijuana smoke sink?

When you light marijuana in a bong, why does the smoke go down into the bong instead of lighting and going up into the atmosphere?
Answers:
Smoke is airborne particulates. Solids. Solids universally sink in gasses. Some smoke may be hot enough to lift the solids (or a balloon, for that matter) but after person filtered through the water, bong smoke settles.
Because when you light a bong you also suck to draw the smoke into the chamber. Then you hoist the slider and inhale. So by covering up the one end of the bong with your mouth you are applying suction where the the bowl is and within turn sucking the smoke into the bong. Source(s): basic physics
