Catheterization, urethra; simple?
Answers:
So long as you know where on earth the urethra is and have seen the procedure done, it's extremely simple.
With males it's reasonably natural unless there's an enlarged prostate in the way. Then you use a smaller catheter, maybe a 12 Fr. instead of an 18 Fr. With women, ably we always have to be different. I'd repugnance to tell you where the little dimple may be hiding since sometimes it's not where it's supposed to be. It habitually is inside the vagina & isn't where the book says it is or the diagram shows either. Then it in recent times takes practice to make perfect. Source(s): NJ RN
Clean the orifice, then lube and insert a catheter. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
It can be next to impossible within older men with big prostates, though.
