If a personality be to pilfer an overdose on drugs, is it possible to put aside them if they phone an ambulance surrounded by time?

Wierd question sorry, this is for part of a story but I need to sort sure I have my facts right.

So if too many pills were taken, how long does it give somebody a lift to have an effect and how much does it depend on the type of drug taken?
Answers:
You have to pick out your drug first if you want the character to live...or not.Using the old standby of sleeping pills or another sedative, most will be able to be flushed out of the system by a stomach pump & IVs. As long as you acquire the person to the hospital within an hour, the prognosis is good & the soul will live.Of course she'll have to be under Suicide Watch & go through adjectives that stuff. If you want to kill them off you can use something like cyanide (kills right away but darn rugged to get), arsenic(takes a while ), and thallium (another one that takes a while). The ones easy to get & unproblematic to treat are the old reliable sleeping pills (secobarbital,Ambien, Restoril, Chloral Hydrate,Prosom, Lunesta, & Sonata.) Then the anti- anxiety pills( Xanax, Valium, and Ativan) which seem to be harmless...but are not.If I be picking one, it would be Xanax. It can be used for anxiety, sleep,& panic disorders and the usual dose is 0.25mg with one tablet 3 times a day as needed. However you can transport 4 mg a day safely(16 pills) which most people taking it wouldn't know. It usually calms the human being in 30 minutes with a peak at 2 hours so by getting to the hospital contained by 1 hour gives plenty of time to treat. If you want another drug, check them out. Good luck. Source(s): NJ RN
To append Johnka's good answer... it also matter what kind of pills were taken. Tylenol for instance is a terrible drug to overdose on because the repulsive effects aren't seen for days or weeks after and it kills you slowly and painfully. It is possible to remove the pills or neutralise them in the past too much is absorbed (15-60 minutes depending) and suffer few adverse effects. Nitroglycerine will drop your blood pressure fairly quickly to the point that you intervene out and then die within a few minutes (10-20 minutes I would guess, again depending).
are you okay?
Yes it is possible. And in fact happen more often that not. But you have to keep contained by mind that there are many factors such as type, dose, age of the pills, and the middle-of-the-road effects of the drugs. For instance Ibuprofen, everyone says "Oh, don't take more than 2" but in sincerity it is hard to OD on that. Most commonly one gets really nauseated and an upset stomach. More potent analgesics (neurological suppressants) such as morphine or percocet will cause respiratory or cardiac arrest sooner. Some drug denote an ER at the downfall which stands for Early Release and release more of the drug sooner and faster. If your using them in a movie I suggest using low dose vitamins or candy. For best affect use something in white as most prescription drugs are of that color and portrait them as taking prescription drugs versus (O.T.C.) or over the counter as everyone knows OTC's are smaller amount strength than a Scripted medication.
Good luck. Source(s): EMT-B in Pennsylvania for 10+ yrs
It's possible...but it really depends on what drug and how much is taken. The best bet is to get them to a hospital or call an ambulance as soon as possible. The time frame will fluctuate for everyone based on the size of the person and medical history also.
don't do it, just dont do it. it ain't worth it. don't kill yourself
Yes - sooner the better. The pills take time to be absorbed via the digestive system and stomach. If they can be removed or neutralised the situation is draatically better.
