For adjectives the doctors out nearby: doctor's job footsteps, is it worth doing a phd?
I am a first year medical student, and i know someone who is doing a phd in asthma before starting his house job.
I similar to learning all the detail all the mechanism etc so i know i'll enjoy it. But will it help at all if i do a phd, up to that time my house job cos my uni offers an optional direct boardwalk into phd after bsc year (4th year)? I mean, will i be able to specialise faster, rather than waiting for who know how many years if say i did general prescription but really i wanted to do gastroenterology primarily (this is currently the thing i like most)? Will it furnish me a significant advantage given the immense competition for certain posts and specialities? Thanks
