Is it worth becoming a doctor within 10 years or so?
I'm heavily looking into the field of medicine for my future. I'm 19 immediately and whenever I imagine myself in a hospital or operating room performing a procedure and helping a person, it sends chills up my spine surrounded by excitement. I love the concept of physiology in action. I just own reservations regarding if it will be worth it or not. I also would like a financially secure art, which medicine has had a reputation of self, but it's not a primary factor for me. I was just wondering if it's a stable and fulfilling career to pursue contained by the coming years. This question is kind of broad and general but I guess it leaves doors undo to practically any kind of information from anyone. Thank you to anyone who responds to this!
p.s. Choosing your specific field in pills doesn't happen til your 3rd year or so in med school, this I know, but as of right immediately, Anesthesiology and Radiology intrigue me immensely. So maybe if anyone has any answers to whether those are fulfilling areas in the medical paddock just as a start?

Obama's healthcare plan is screwing with the passageway medicine works and physicians' salaries, but hopefully he'll be out after this term and someone who know what they're doing can step in and fix things...
However, medicine will ALWAYS be the top career for position security. You will never be without a job or acquire laid off. The salaries are top notch, those will tell you otherwise, but no matter what they say within is no career with starting salaries right out of residency that tablets offers. It is a very rewarding career, and have tons of options open.
I'm a premedical student now and I've shadowed abundant doctors, and I myself am leaning towards Radiology. I love the machinery they use, the procedures they preform, and what they do on a day to day idea. The salary is nice, and the hours are good. Radiology and Anesthesiology are part of the ROAD anagram: Radiology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Dermatology. The ROAD specialties are the most "domestic friendly" in terms of hours and things like that, however they basically so happen to be the hardest specialties to "Match" into, which is determined by Step 1 scores and clinical evaluations (you'll learn adjectives this eventually).
So yes, medicine is very fufilling and has a massively hefty salary, despite people who complain about it not mortal enough for the work you do. However, although the work is hard, you're saving lives and making wall doing it, so in my eyes it's a pretty nice gig.
