Clonazepam (brand name Klonopin contained by The US and Rivotril in Canada in Europe) is a benzodiazepine sedative/hypnotic.

0.5 mg is a modest dose. It it typically available in 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 2 mg. It is usually prescribed twice day by day for anxiety. The maximum dose is 10 mg/day.

For almost any drug you look up on the internet you will find a lot of terrible side effects. Most are very undercooked. And the more common problems typically dissipate over time. If you have never taken Clonazepam or other benzodiazepines then 0.5 mg might really stolid you and you could fall asleep. So you might be a little "druggy and dopey" but that typically passes after one or two doses.

Clonazepam is sort of an extraordinary choice of drugs to use 'as needed.' Typically Clonazepam is used on a daily basis with Xanax (alprazolam) and Ativan (lorazepam) anyone better for occasional use.
Since Xanax and Ativan are fast acting and but short acting they are good for acute anxiety. Clonazepam can last partially a day and that might not be what you need.

I have taken Clonazepam from doses range from 0.25 mg/day to 8 mg/day. For me (this does not apply to everyone) Clonazepam was more sedating than other drugs like it (about 1 mg will put me to sleep). It is also a good muscle relaxant. And regularly better for tension and agitation rather than anxiety.

Some people will be completely knock out by 0.5 mg (but most will not).

Also depending on what type of anxiety you are dealing with can change things. But I personally do not resembling Clonazepam at all but it is a live-saver for some. And when taken regularly it has a higher incidence of depression compared to Valium, Xanax, Ativan, or any benzo.

I would purloin it and see what happens. Worst case is you fall asleep. And if it does not work very well or takes too long to work or lasts too long ask about alternative medication.

Good luck Source(s): I am a medical student with a specialist degree (Hons. BSc) in Pharmacology next to a focus on psychopharmacology. I have interned under two psychiatrists and one neurologist. In addition I own worked as a pharmacy assistant.

And I have taken Clonazepam
