Would 3-5 days lacking sleep end in brain reduce to rubble?

I am trying to have no sleep for up to 5 days. Will the lack or REM sleep cause beyond repair brain damage and/or reduce cognitive abilities?

Actually going 5 days without REM sleep will impose brain damage, but you won't be able to do it. Your body will crash and you will pass out previously any permanent damage can be done. It's not a matter of will power, your body merely shuts down.

Even with drugs and someone forcing you awake, your body will start microsleeping. The longer you stay awake, the less time your body will take to start going into REM sleep. These micronaps will be pure REM sleep, and they'll save going despite your meds and someone forcing you awake until your body crashes as above.
While brain damage is pretty unlikely, you will see a gradual degradation of mental ability as well as motor skills. To give you and idea of the effects of sleep deprivation: experiments enjoy shown that driving while sleep deprived produces similar effects to those seen with driving while intoxicated. Also, experiments performed on rats own demonstrated that death (cardiac arrest presumably) occurs after a given amount of time without sleep ... however, it is notably unlikely that a person could keep themself awake for that long without someone forcing them to hold their eyes open, taking powerful stimulants (cocaine, etc), or something of that nature.

That said, good luck beside your experiment. You are going to feel like crap by day 2 if your lucky, probably sooner if you aren't used to it. Mild divergent halucinations around that time as well.

I am not sure why you would want to stay up for 5 days purposely. I am certain it will impair abilities and your thought processing....permanent brain pull doubtful, but it is not healthy...the body needs sleep to refresh and rejuvenate itself. Granted, my hours of sleeping aren't the norm considering I'm up at darkness and sleep most of the day but I do try to get 7+ hours.. Ive heard that the 7th hour of sleep is the most exalted.

No but you will be really irritably you will pass out before your brain can whip any damage lol.... Us Snipers who are the smartest best fit people stay up for weeks spot on there target and they still do it so no vandalize...
