You have to be a compassionate person, you have to be your incredibly best even on your worst days, you have to understand you Will lose patients but you have to shift on for your other ones. You will get cussed out spit at thrown up on bleed on hit kicked slapped at least once a week and that's a good week. You other bite your tongue, and can never be "tired" even when you have worked 36 hours in the last 2.5 days resting on having a family of Your own, Be prepared to be called surrounded by in the middle of the night because the hospital is short handed and you be the only one who answered the phone (lucky you). You will be filled with pride, pleasure, guilt, anger, love, hate,ex… all at once you will remember the moments when you get to foot a mother her newborn baby and congratulate her, the times where you get to permit a mom see her baby for the first time! You will remember the moments when you are praying to god that baby starts crying when he comes out 4 months early.. The times where on earth you have to call the parents and tell them they entail to come down to the hospital and prepare their goodbye's. There are high high's and low low's.. Anyways It takes A lot sometimes to much but it is worth it! Source(s): B.S.N. (Bachelors Science of Nursing) N.I.C.U NURSE (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Would NOT change it for anything!
