It depends on where you live, but I get my EMT-B in Denver, CO, and when I was looking for jobs, my best contribute was $8.50/hr working on an ambulance. I ended up working as an EMT in a hospital Intensive Care Unit for just about $14/hr instead. I wanted to be able to ride the ambulance, and have that adrenaline rush, but the money of late isn't there.
But as an EMT-B you can work in hospital based critical keeping most of the time. Either in the Emergency Room or Intensive Care Units, and make much more than on ambulance crews. You also beat you CNA certified applicants for job because you can do more, such as start IV's, if you have your IV certification.
Good Luck with doesn`t matter what you decide to do. Source(s): I am an RN, former EMT-B
I don't know. Im a senior in High School and might be going to college to be a Paramedic and I already posted this give somebody the third degree on here...answers.yahoo SUCKS!
