How do they restrain insane associates who're guilty of disorderly crimes?

Let's say you have someone who's schizophrenic or schizoaffective who killed someone. There are ward specifically for violent patients, right? How are they restrained? Are they basically strapped down to a table all afternoon, or do they have some freedom? Are there differences in the treatment of men vs women?
Answers:
It is called a straight jacket i believe (excuse my spelling) and you are able to move your legs but not you upper body... basicly you own no arms... but its only used if neccisary (excuse my spelling) otherwise yeah you get freedoms (what ever the Warden allows)
Well...

John Hinckley, who attempted to exterminate Ronald Regan, and also shot many other government officials did not draw from a guilty verdict. Like most mental persons, like John Hinckley himself, do not return with sentenced to the murders... with the reasoning of insanity bringing them to the crimes. Instead they get sent to a ward which is like prison for the rest of their lives. Good behavior, which John Hinckley have shown through the years, allows him and many other mentally induced criminals the right to leave the mental facilities once surrounded by a while on their own, without supervision or staff. Those you hear that get strapped down are usually those who are capable of committing impair to them selves or those who resist authority. Usually those who resist authority get strapped down as punishment for a while but not forever same goes to the ones who are harmful but close charge and watch is certainly provided. Gender does not determine type of treatment, rather, level of insanity does.

Google have a lot more information
There's a possession called "chemical restraint" which is the use of medication to calm these folks...medications used are commonly major tranqulizers like Haldol, Thorazine, Zyprexa…which are also known as antipsychotic medications….Also minor tranquilizers are used…most commonly surrounded by combination with major tranquilizers….the minor ones are meds like Ativan, Valium, etc. Sometimes Benadryl is used instead of Ativan.

Physical restraints are also used when the chemical restraints aren’t working…and nearby is concern about immediate danger to self or others. Today, the trend is to use a “chair restraint”, that instead of mortal tied down to a bed, they are secured to a chair…this is much better for many reasons, especially for patients who have histories of abuse…they grain less vulnerable in a seated position than self tied down to a bed. A chair restraint also helps to safely move relatives instead of having to try to carry them or keep them on a gurney.

Most schizophrenic or otherwise psychotic nation who kill someone…they are usually insane at the time of the crime…and are found “Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity” or “NGRI.” It means they were not surrounded by their right mind at the time of the crime…they did not recognize that what they were doing was wrong.

This is a suitable defense for many people. They are sent to mental hospitals, most commonly State Mental Health Facilities for treatment. They often enjoy a difficult time getting out of the hospital because many people have to agree that they are no longer a vulnerability to society and it is VERY unlikely that the same thing will happen again.

Most NGRI patients spend more time surrounded by a mental hospital than they would spend if they go to prison…and perhaps are eventually paroled. So, it is not always such a desirable outcome.

There should be no difference between how men and women are restrained or are treated.
What in the world make you think they strap these people down all time? What's the matter with you?!!?!??!??! Words of wisdom to live by; "Engage brain up to that time opening mouth."
