MRI tonight and frantic! (For scoliosis)?
I'd already posted a question about this, but I have a few more question.
For one, I just found out that, even though they're probably using a short-bore MRI machine, my head will still be inside of it (I read online that if the scan is for the subsidise, then the head would be sticking out the other end... guess not :[ ). How far away are the walls of the tool on each side of you? I keep thinking it's only similar to an inch, and then I get nervous that I'll hold trouble breathing. :[
Also, is the banging really THAT loud? Everyone I've spoken to or read about says the bang is really loud, that's why you should listen to music while inside.
Finally, since I have scoliosis, my entire back is being scan. I was told the process would take an hour and a half. Is that accurate, and is near a possibility it could take less?
Thanks. Sorry there's so much to read though. :[

The scanners are much larger than they used to be, depending on the manufacturer and model number. Most places hold newer machines-- even podunk hospitals that have mobile units. and those are "open" because you aren't the only one who get claustrophobic.
The noise is not an issue; you'll get headphones so you can listen to music during the exam.
It may or may not pinch an hour and a half. A friend of mine had a scan of his abdomen just this minute and even doing two scans (one with contrast, which you won't need), it took only 1/2 hour.
