Low pulse rate and warmth... Help diagnose?
I went to the doctor today for joint and skin conditions. I happen to be overweight, at 5'6" and 220. I am somewhat fit, and walk about 10 miles a week. My blood pressure was majority but high compared to my average, at 117 over 60 ( I had 3 cups of coffee first). Normally its 80 over 60. Also, my pulse was individual 47 ! My temperature was only 96.8 ! Doctors tend to conjecture my blood pressure and heart rate and all are okay, but I wonder..... Do you think there could be something brewing which is cause my weakness, low temp, etc? Can you please answer only if you are qualified? Thanks! Oh, I only get 4 hours sleep last night, and 5 hours is my norm (I have a baby).

Hmmm. Overweight, relative hypothermia, bradycardia. Have you be unsually fatigued, depressed, cold intolerant, constipated? If so, this may be indicative of thyroid hormone deficiency, called hypothyroidism. Ask your physician about this. Source(s): My remote medical training.
Okay 117/60 is totally commonplace But your pulse rate
should be between 60 to 72 beats a minute sometimes 60-80 is desirable , pulse 47 beats a minute is low
that is almost classified as having Bracharydia which manner slow hear rate
Your MD is right about your vitals, but I'm concerned about your low pulse. You don't mention if you are on any medications (which could impose the low pulse) and with your weight your pulse should be higher, at lowest possible over 60.If he didn't do an EKG he should do one for the bradycardia is a great concern & could possibly lead to a heart block. With all the stress on your body, from long walks to withdrawal of sleep your pulse should be higher. There are some medications that cause a low rate but even next to that, the rate needs to be followed up. An EKG is the best & fastest way to see what's going on. Please have one. Source(s): NJ RN
