Removal of leg artery such as the great saphenous?

So if you have a malfunctioning, unattractive leg vein and the md removes it, do they reconnect the glowing ends of the vein together so it can continue draining blood back to heart?
Recently, lasers are used. How do lasers remove the capillary? They can't do it physically? So the dead vein is still inside you..

Removal of the superficial veins can be done for cosmetic purposes and for varicose vein. Collateral veins (usually deeper) will take over the job of the vein that were removed.
The laser scleroses the vein and blocks it.

Veins are internal, lasers will not remove them.

There are two classes of veins superficial and philosophical. The veins you are describing are the superficial veins. Lasers just suppress blood flow via that artery route so the appearance of the vein will not be prominent. If blood flow remains the vein will have colour.

Veins do not enjoy strong thick elastic walls as arteries do so blood flow can be suppressed via lasers, (I know arteries are not visible usually but I be giving an example of comparison). Source(s): I'm a Medical Science student
