I hurt my back in a car disaster last month and have been prescribed morphine ever since I be on 60 mg's slow relrase a day. Now they are looking to add 20 more mg's onto my daily dose. I don't want to escalate anymore cuz I don't want to be on it for long and the subtraction scared me! does anyone know if magnesium can block or slow down tolerance to morphine? anyone for any experience with this.these pain pills are addictive stuff that shpuldnt be messed beside
Answers:
Add Vistaril 50 mg twice a day rather than escalating the dose of morphine - antihistamines enhance the effect of narcotics. Source(s): Medical professional
This is a perfect question for your doctor and only your doctor. I don't regard as anyone here is comfortable enough to give you an answer without knowing your medical history. Like you said yourself; it's stuff that shouldn't be messed next to.
Check with the doc.
Your comment on magnesium is interesting here.If your magnesium levels go up I believe your calcium go down. So I will pass on the following experience.
hypocalcemia can lead to cramping and ache on its own. Your muscles cell won't relax properly(tetany) and it can lead to confusion.
This is particularly interesting when you sneeze.
Although you may not experience the same symptom.
So yeah, I would influence tolerance to pain is reduced when I have this. Source(s): No parathyroid glands to balance calcium rank.
This would be a question for your doctor. You're right that they shouldn't be messed beside though...
