How much free time do doctors gain?

I'm just wondering how much free time a typical doctor gets. Well, not a typical doctor, but on average. The reason for me asking this is because I hold a huge ambition to become a doctor, something beyond general practitioner, more along the lines of specializing in some sub-field. However, I also dream of raising getting married and raise a happy and healthy family. Is this possible? Do doctors return with to come home to spend time with family, do they get weekends (or even basically Sunday) off? How about vacations? I am capably aware that in residency, you pretty much live in a hospital/clinic but what about after residency, when you become a full-fledged doctor? Thank you so much for adjectives the answers, I would appreciate as much information as possible. Many thanks and you all have my gratitude! :)

yes dear. i feel your worries but yes drs get time stale as they can. like you can totally raise a normal festive family being one. im a nurse and the doctor in the place where on earth i work has all weekends off works simply some on call and has days off between the week as very well. there are alot of options you can work in yuor own practice if u want. even at the hospital it aint that bleak. at first it will be crazy like any job but then you amend and get the better jobs. luck 2u
Well after residency, you will find time for your relations and raise a family. Not immediately after residency will you own time because you are still looking for private practices and/or hospitals to work in now that you specialized. The time you have depends on the pen of medicine in which you choose to go into and your work environment. I hold a friend who is an orthopedic surgeon and he is up night and day because he is on call 3 out of the 7 night of the week. This is because there is not many doctors in his practice so they enjoy to work harder. I would say a typical doctors schedule is 7 a.m- 7 p.m monday through friday maybe beside the exceptions of wednesdays. On call maybe one night a week and usually does not work on the weekends. However, it really depends on which area of medicine you are in and many other factor. Hope I helped.
It depends on what specialty you dance into. My father is a cosmetic surgeon and his own private practice, so he chooses his hours - he worked from 7AM-10PM (not doing operations throughout the day, obviously) every day except Wednesdays and Sundays.
You'll be a big boy then. Negotiate doesn`t matter what contract you want. It'll help if you aren't a quarter million dollars in debt, if you can figure a instrument to manage that. If you want to work part time, there's no law that say you can't. It's just that'll cut out most of the jobs available.
