A ask for pharmacists or doctors?
I sprained my ankle badly and am in a lot of backache. I plan to see the doctor tomorrow if there is no improvement. In the meantime, though, I'd like to inventory all the other meds I take. Could you please tell me if taking Unisom would be contraindicated? I'f I'm going to be within pain, I might as well sleep through it, LOL. Here are my regular meds:
Levoxyl
Naprosyn
Effexor
Lexapro
Xanax
Plus, I took several Tylenol today.
Thanks for any help you can contribute.
Answers:
Unisom can depress the nervous system. It can add to any sedative properties of drugs you are already taking (especially Xanax). So it can affect your breathing even more. It depends on how much you nick. I'm not a pharmacist (yet) but I wouldn't recommend taking it to sleep. Source(s): Pharmacy school
From what I see, the only one that will interact with the Unisom is the Xanax. You'll perceive more sedated, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a contraindication, unless you're taking a ton of Xanax. Just don't take beyond what is recommended on the box. Source(s): Med student
