Can someone please diagnose me?

This was a scary incident today. I'll try to cover everything.

First of all, I am a mannish in high school, clearly healthy, and had a physical within the ending few weeks. My BMI is normal and I exercise often. What I am about to describe happen once before and happened again today. I'd appreciate some help near this.

So today I was at marching band and I be feeling terrible. I had one of those stomach ache that not only affect the stomach but affect the back as well. It feel as if I needed to go to the bathroom, but I didn't have to go.

We be practicing marching and I was totally out of it. I wanted to walk home. For about 15 minutes, I marched while in torment. I eventually got extremely fatigued. I could barely hold my trombone up! At that time, I felt resembling I needed to vomit. Then, I started seeing tiny flashes in my peripheral vision. It looked approaching tiny shooting stars that moved. Some of the flashes were yellow, and some of them were blue/green. The sickly spot didn't flash, but the blue/green ones did. It looked like a tiny version of the spots you see in your eyes after a picture is taken from a camera beside flash.

But that wasn't the main part that should be focused on. I felt out of it. Eventually, the guy running the march instruction asked me if I was alright and said I looked a little green.

I told him I was sense sick and he told me to sit down. I drank my bottle of powerade and sat down. I was also extremely warm. I didn't hold a fever, but I felt hot on the inside.

I tried to march again (I didn't want to breed it look like I was faking sick to catch out of marching band) but I couldn't do it. This time, I was told to sit down. I wasn't allowed to march. A female who works for the band gave me Gatorade and told me to lie down surrounded by the grass. I did, and this helped a lot. I felt close to this for about 45 minutes. Once we got inside, I felt fine. I be able to socialize, play, and hold my trombone up 10 degrees above parallel like I be supposed to.

So, let's recap:

1. Stomach ache; bathroom feeling.
2. Fatigue (extreme)
3. Flashes
4. Felt hot (internally)
5. "Out of it" feeling
6. Blurred reverie

If I would have kept this up and continued marching, I would have passed out. This happen 2 years ago, also. The symptoms were the same, except I DID black out for a short amount of time.

I did get through an hour before band, and I stayed hydrated. I go to the bathroom regularly. What happen today? Is there a name for it? What do I do to prevent it from happening again?

Any minister to would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for the question. I'm sorry to hear about this.

A number of diseases may account for this regular problem. However, based on your excellent chronology of the events, my first impression is hypokalemic periodic paralysis, a complication of a disease call hyperthyroidism.

If I may ask, did you feel neurologically "weak", or a sensation of paralysis, in your arms and legs?

Hyperthyroidism, a hyperfunctioning disorder of the thyroid gland, can present clinically in numerous ways. So-called "roast intolerance" is one of the more common symptoms. Hypokalemia, or low blood potassium, is a well-documented, although relatively uncommon, manifestationn of hyperthyoidism. If the blood potassium is critically low, it can can cause severe muscle delicateness, as well as malaise, nausea, and other non-specific symptoms. When you were rehydrated with Powerade/Gatorade, which contains potassium, you progressively enhanced.

Alternatively, you may have been simply dehydrated and consequently low surrounded by blood potassium, low in sodium content (volume contracted), and low in blood sodium (hyponatremia).

Another diagnosis, although unlikely, could have be accidental poisoning with a medication called digoxin, which within toxic levels can cause electrolyte abnormalities, abdominal agony, nausea, and colorful visual disturbances. The only way for a soul to become unknowingly poisoned with this drug is by accidentally ingesting leaves of the plant called "fox glove". If I may ask, had you not long ingested raw plants, leaves, berries, etc?

I recommend that you seek care beside a general internist to diagnose this problem. I would strongly recommend that you have a blood test to check your electrolytes and thyroid function test. Source(s): My remote medical training.
