Do cranial nerves own motor or sensory neurons?
Now that I figured out they are part of the cns, are they motor or sensory neurons??

They are adjectives CNS. Most of the emerge from the brainstem, the others emerge higher, making them CNS. They are named based on their purpose. In common, a motor neuron will carry a signal away from your brain telling your body to do something. Usually, this means moving, any a voluntary muscle (walking) or a smooth muscle (digestion), although there are some exceptions. Sensory neurons carry information back roughly speaking the outside world or how your body is functioning.

The term "motor" is used because they allow movement by innervating muscles. No, they do not have a motor contained by a mechanical sense.
Joe is not confusing you, he is correcting you. Cranial nerve nuclei (the cell bodies) reside surrounded by the CNS but once the nerve leaves the brainstem or brain it is considered part of the PNS. Typically when one refers to cranial nerves they mean this extra-axial at a tangent portion.
