What compassionate of a doctor is Meredith Grey or Lexi Grey past its sell-by date of Grey's Anatomy?

I am wanting to be a doctor/surgeon like Meredith or Lexi Grey off Grey's Anatomy? What kind of doctor/surgeon are they?
Answers:
Meredith is a surgical resident. She doesn't enjoy a specialty yet. It's a temporary position. Residents rotate through different departments and eventually go into a specialty.

For example, read how the residency program at this hospital works:

Lexie is a surgical intern.

A medical intern is a residence used in the United States for a physician in training who has completed medical university. An intern has a medical degree, but does not have a full license to practice pills unsupervised.

So keep in mind these are temporary positions, and these are also storybook characters, and does not accurately portray real medicine. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internship_…
They are general surgery residents. It is a miserable lifestyle not at adjectives like that on TV. The day starts at 5-5:30AM with rounds. OR by 7AM until done can be as belated as 9-10PM. Then back at it the next day. And thats if you are a senior resident 2nd to 5th year. First years are interns they do "scut" work, see different consults and admits they do not go to the OR. You will inevitably become a bitter angry person if you become a surgeon, trust me I am around them every time is med school.
