More of a biology interrogate: skin and how it absorb nutrients?

I remember a long time ago in bio we talked about cells- how they're made of phospholipid membrane and inside they hold mitochondria, ribosomes..ect...
So now Im thinking how do face masks and creams work?
If you put cucumber slices on your tired eyes, how does the liquid get absorbed by the skin if its made of phospholipid layer that won't allow the sea soluble cucumber juice to enter?
Answers:
endocytosis.
Firstly the cream itself is not necessarily absorbed to create its effect. It probably goes into your pores, bypassing adjectives the dead and terminal skin and then gets spellbound from there. We do lose water through our skin (called transpiration, or insensible water loss) it's only not much. So, we can absorb water too, and we can prevent its loss from the skin.

Also the concept is probably that cucumber has some podgy and fat-soluble nutrients, which should be able to pass fairly capably if they can bypass your epidermis.
