A single high potency niacin tablet can causing flushing which is a skin response that feels like a painful itchy sunburn adjectives over your body. Niacin in even higher doses becomes toxic and can effect nausea, vomiting, and liver damage.
My doctor has me on niacin for high triglycerides; I hold a 500mg capsul at bedtime and I usually sleep throgh the flushing. If you take niacin durring the day I'd limit it to 50 or 100 mg unless you want to step around looking like a lobster.
