Would Prozac (fluoxetine) be my the best pick?
When dealing with only a little depression and a LOT of anxiety ? Or is nearby a better medication out there that can treat both. . . but help more with the anxiety. . . ?

Well I've taken fluoxetine for moderate depression. It would normally take a few weeks (2-3) to kick contained by. I don't know if it could gender related me being a guy.

Firstly I would similar to to say I am NOT a doctor or a psychiatrist but I have a great deal of experience next to these things. Fluoxetine is a form of Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor (SSRI) these are quite often used when treating anxiety disorders and depression. They have roughly the same success rate as Tricyclic Anti - depressants but have much smaller amount severe side effects. Some times disappear can be prescribed as well when an SSRI is first given out as it can decrease the initial unpleasant side effects (these generally individual last for 10 - 15 days though). Other forms of SSRI are available such as Citalopram and the more effective Peroxatine. These should generally be taken every daytime for as long as the Dr. prescribes. However, when taking any SSRI it should be remembered that, when coming off the medication it is ESSENTIAL, I cannot stress it enough that you come off them slowly. It would be best to jump and see your doctor to devise a withdrawal plan. If you come off too quickly it can unlock all the good work which has be done and lead to some very unpleasant side effects. On another note, SSRI's may produce sexual dysfunction but this usually subsides when the medication has stopped, if not, again, ask the Dr. P.S some form of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) should be sought out to accompany any medication as this will reduction the chance of redeveloping the condition. Theres a bunch of differant ones. Some people have to try other meds cause the ones they start out on arnt working biddable. And it normaly takes at least a month b4 you can get teh full affect of the pills.
There are so several different medications out there that it is hard to utter. I have had problems with both depression and anxiety and enjoy been on a couple of different things (at different times) that have helped me comparatively a bit. I was on Zoloft first, which helped with both of those symptoms, and I am presently on Wellbutrin-XL, which also helps with both.
