My grandmother is taking Lifezar losartan potassium as repairs for blood pressure?

now, is it advisable to take this as maintenance drug for blood pressure..
or should she thieve that drug if and only if she is hypertensive?
i mean, to take the drug everyday lacking checking her BP?
Answers:
Hypertension is called the "silent killer" for a reason. Unlike many diseases, it usually have no symptoms until that first stroke or heart attack or kidney failure. You need to control hypertension daily, in recent times like you would insulin levels with diabetes. Unlike diabetes, you cart it regardless of whether you are having a hypertensive episode.

This helps prevent several complications of long-standing (chronic) hypertension, such as cardiomyopathy, renal hypertension and hepatic-portal hypertension. So the answer is yes, she needs to cart this medication daily in order to declare adequate control of her blood pressure.
However, she should also be periodically checking her BP to make sure that it is not too low or that she is actually controlling her pressure appropriately. Source(s): RN
