Can you pilfer vitamin D as much as you want?

They say you can take vitamin C as much as you want because it is water soluble and secure, is vitamin D the same?
Answers:
No.

Too much vitamin D can cause toxicity that results in nausea, vomiting, poor appetite, constipation, poor quality and weight loss. It can also raise blood calcium levels, cause mental status changes such as confusion and heart rhythm abnormalities.

Sun exposure is unlikely to result in vitamin D toxicity. Other compounds produced surrounded by the skin protect the body from synthesizing too much vitamin D during periods of prolonged sun exposure. vitamin D toxicity is likely to occur from overdose of vitamin D supplements. People taking vitamin D supplements should never exceed the recommended dose and should be made aware of the side effects of vitamin D overdose.

BTW, re: C
Anyone taking megadoses of vitamin C over a long time can become dependent on it. The body may respond to uninterrupted glorious levels by activating an enzyme to destroy the vitamin. If you later cut your dosage too quickly, you may go through a withdrawal process that includes signs of vitamin C less.
Vitamins D and A, being fat-soluble vitamins, have distinct toxicities. It isn't as easy to do next to D as A, but it has happened. E is also fat soluble, but toxicity isn't see with that one. And others are right: if you take the C doses recommended by the late Linus Pauling you can run into trouble within as well.
i dont know who told you that you can take as much vitamin c as you want. They are wrong because a few years ago, i took too much vitamin c and developed a stomach ulcer from it. be careful near your vitamins... :)
No. Too much vitamin D can be highly toxic to the human body, and it hangs around for a long time dissolved in your fatty tissues. Only hold the recommended amount of supplements, please!
Hi Chris. You have received some partially correct information from the other answers.

First, you can "overdose" on Vitamin C. The most adjectives side-effect of too much Vitamin C is diarrhea.

As for Vitamin D, it is a fat soluble vitamin. Fat soluble vitamins can accumulate in the body, so near is a potential for an overdose. However, Vitamin D deficiency is now an epidemic. Most people do NOT bring enough Vitamin D.

Additionally, there is a large body of irrefutable research that indicates the RDAs for Vitamin D are TOO LOW. Medical studies indicate most people need at least 800 to 1000 IU per morning of vitamin D supplements (this is 2 to 5 times the RDAs!). Several recent studies indicate doses as high as 10,000 IU for several months are safe in strong people (people without kidney disease, for example).

So, can you take as much D as you want? No. But SHOULD you whip MORE than the current RDAs? Yes.
