How tough is it to become a doctor?
Lets say that you have been a B average (in the 80s and glorious 70s range) student for most of your school life... but you ar dedicated to studying and erudition new things, as well as making the world a better place one person at a time. Do you conjecture this person could make it to becoming any type of doctor, or is the school grades exceptionally important?

There are just so many places surrounded by any medical school. And they search for not only that super logical and bright personage, but one well rounded in the arts, and community service. The really tough classes are in college.... math, chemistry, physics. It is near those college level classes that you are successful in an application. Source(s): father and husband both mds.
Your college grades are what will concern so if you are not in college yet be careful and buckle down that risky freshman year and do very well from the start. After you have first semester figured out participate regularly surrounded by appropriate volunteer activities or get a job working a few hours a week as a phlebotomist. Medical arts school admissions committees like to see that you are well-rounded and those extra activities can bestow you some nice letters of recommendation.
all i know is that it takes at least 10 years of college instruction in medical classes to get a medical degree
I would have to say that when unis are going through all the applications, they will cart out all those who do not have good adequate grades first. Afterwards they check your personal statement, extra-curricular activities, voluntary work...etc.

grades are very defining in being able to seize into colleges, especially medicine so YES you really need to be getting As. I know a doctor who had B+ and couldnt even get hold of into an american medical school and went to another country.
It will only be as tough as you make it. If you are faithful and willing to work hard it is definitely possible. If you don't try you will never know.
You might become a doctor, but I wouldn't want anyone doing surgery on me that graduated beside a 70-80 percent average. Make yourself earn 90 something average, and I'll be more than happy to go under your gouge.
I think that if you really want to distribute it a try- don't loose the chance and make every effort surrounded by order to become a doctor. You may be a good one.

School grades are the most still the most important aspect of a medical application. I've with the sole purpose done one year of admissions (for Manchester Medical School) but the criteria I was given was:
- Rank race in school grades i.e.
AAA
AAB
ABB
BBB
etc. etc.
- Then rank the population with the same grades in jargon of their UKCAT score.

600
etc. etc.
- Then out of the 500 applications I had, pick the best 250 and send them on.
They're whittle down from about 2,500 to 500.
All in all, if you don't hold at least 1 A, you have almost no chance and I'd push for going through the postgraduate route.
Anyway, sorry to be a bit of a 'buzzkill'.
