DO or MD doesn't matter. If you're going to work contained by a level 1 emergency department, you're going to have to be boarded in emergency medication. Those training programs are open to both MD's and DO's. It's the residency (after getting the degree) that trains you how to practice your specialty.
Physician D.O. means doctor obtained an optional degree (DO=diploma in ophthalmology / eye). There is difference between DO and MD. MD means doctor of prescription.
