Anyone beside successful treatment near St. John's Wort (herbal supplement) + any opinion on low-dose Zoloft?

I would like to take it as an alternative to Zoloft. I think the problem next to Zoloft is that the medical dosages (25-200mg) releases too much and overcompensates or even floods the brain with serotonin, even though serotonin is considered the "calming" and "happy" neurochemical, dopamine is considered the "pleasure" and "motivational" neurochemical, inducing euphoria and energy and euphoria in large acute amounts. Therefore higher than needed amounts of Zoloft will induce severe sexual dysfuction and apathy, I know from experience, I've been on as much as 100mg, which induced severe aphathy, 50mg and less induced severe sexual dysfuction. I'm thinking, what the hell, possibly someone with MDD and OCD does have a lack of serotonin surrounded by their brain, but perhaps we can bring it up to NORMAL instead over doing it or FLOODING the brain, that is how scientists have set up to be, I'd be interested contained by trying 1-4mg, but it would be hard to cut down a dose that small, perhaps a quarter of a 25mg pill.. tough to break down, but meh. Opinions?

nope
when i took zoloft i lost a intact bunch a weight on it bc it made me never hungry
First of all, Zoloft doesn't "flood" your brain near serotonin, it does not affect how much serotonin is made or released. Zoloft works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin from the transmitting neuron (hence the drug class SSRI- Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). Zoloft does not induce sexual dysfunction or apathy in all patients, regardless of dosage. If you are experiencing these side effects, switching to a different SSRI (Paxil, Celexa, etc) or even an SNRI (Cymbalta etc) could be a strategy. If you really want to try a very low dose of the Zoloft you could opt for the juice, so you would not have to worry about adjectives a tablet.

Additionally, if you have been diagnosed with MDD and OCD, St Johns Wort is probably not a honourable choice for you. It has only been shown powerful in mild to moderate depression, and the results are still conflicting. It also has many drug-drug interactions, so create sure to discuss it with your physician if you decide to try it. Source(s): PharmD candidate
