Question give or take a few psychology?

Could bipolar disorder we promulgated by caregivers who only responded to children when the child was displaying great stress and discontentment, or when the child was attractive, cheery and upbeat, and perhaps would be reinforcing the tendency to display those types of behavior in establish to get the affection/conflict resolution a bipolar individual needed?

I don't know much about behaviorism or bipolar disorder, so I was wondering if someone out nearby who knew could fill me in on why or why not this is the suitcase.

As a mental health professional next to 20+ years experience, now retired, let me advise you that you are asking for a psychoanalytic caring of a mental illness, and that practice, for most of us in the more realistic avenues of providing psychological/psychiatric/counseling services, hold dumped that as any respectable / realistic direction to go in to provide measurable services to our patients. It's somewhat approaching the warning we were given in graduate training, "Never start asking why, or answering patients' question in that direction. There is NEVER an adequate answer, nor a realistic one". God Bless you.
I am bipolar and I have a self-reflective answer to your question.

I attain depressed more when people are not around me. My parents didn't show many any more or less attention during depression. My depression exists on an riotous mental plane.

Bi-polarism is a mental disorder. Acting out is something completely different. This is a great question, though. From my standpoint, though, I am not bipolar because it helps me get attention. That would be a really bad reason to act out a mental disease, a tremendously serious one at that.

The third poster also makes a very great point. Bi-polar is an umbrella-definition of a disease now that necessarily has to do with people have mood swings, but the reasons for each individual can vary.

My bi-polarism exists on a physical stratum and thus isn't triggered by any particular action, it seems to be chemically controlled and comes and go.

Take care! Source(s): Just based on my personal experience.
With all due respect to the first two erudite and well-considered responses, I think it might be possible, TO AN EXTENT. I think "bi-polar" have become a huge "umbrella" for many types of disorders, and the one you describe could possibly be labeled as such.
